My experience

Claire Ashurst

PG Dip. Speech and language therapy

I studied at City University and qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2002. I have always specialised in adult neurology, which includes brain injury, stroke and degenerative diseases.

I worked for several years in the NHS, first at Northwick Park Hospital in London and then with the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team in Brighton.

During those years I spent time in acute hospital wards, intensive care units, a spinal injury unit, rehabilitation wards, outpatient clinics, brain injury units and with clients in their own homes.

In 2009 I set up my private practice based in Brighton, East Sussex. I continue to focus predominantly on stroke, brain injury and degenerative diseases.  I specialise in treating swallowing and communication impairments as well as supporting clients with tracheostomies (see Clients page).

I am registered with:

  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) - SL09117

  • Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (RCSLT)

  • Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP)
